What Is Phrase?
A phrase is a group of words expressing a concept and used as a unit within a sentence. It does not contain a subject and verb and cannot convey a complete thought. Examples:
| The Sun rises in the east. | سورج مشرق سے طلوع ہوتا ہے۔ |
| She sat on the wall. | وہ دیوار پر بیٹھ گئی۔ |
| There came a beggar to my door. | میرے دروازے پر ایک بھکاری آیا |

Adverb Phrase
An adverb phrase is a group of words that does the work of an adverb. An adverbial phrase provides additional details about place, time, manner, cause, or degree to a verb, adjective, word, or another adverb.
الفاظ کا ایسا مجموعہ جو بطور Adverb کام کرے Adverb Phrase کہلاتا ہے۔
Examples:
| We hiked for hours in the mountains. | ہم نے پہاڑوں میں کئی گھنٹوں تک پیدل سفر کیا۔ |
| She speaks English fluently. | وہ انگریزی بہت روانی سے بولتی ہے۔ |
| He arrived unexpectedly. | وہ بغیر بتائے آ گیا۔ |
| They played the game enthusiastically. | انہوں نے کھیل بڑے جوش کے ساتھ کھیلا۔ |
| I decorated the room beautifully. | میں نے کمرے کو بہت خوبصورتی سے سجایا۔ |
Noun Phrase
A group of words that does the work of a noun is called a noun phrase. It may be used as a subject or an object in the sentence.
الفاظ کا ایسا مجموعہ جو بطور noun کام کرے۔ noun Phrase کہلاتا ہے۔ Noun Phrase جملے میں فاعل یا مفعول کے طور پر کام کرتا ہے۔

| The red car parked in front of the house. | گھر کے سامنے لال رنگ کی گاڑی کھڑی تھی۔ |

The infinitive phrase includes the infinitive and the object of the infinitive of any modifiers related to the infinitive. Like an infinitive, the infinitive phrase can perform both functions adverb, or adjective, and a noun.

The prepositional phrase includes the preposition and the object of the preposition of any modifiers related to the preposition.
