What Is An Adjective In Urdu?

An adjective is a word that is used to describe Point out tell the number or quality of a noun. In other words, it modifies a noun or pronoun. We use Adjectives to provide more information about nouns or pronouns.

Adjective ایک ایسا لفظ ہے جو کسی Noun کو بیان کرنے اس کی طرف اشارہ کرنے یا اس کی تعداد یا خاصیت بتانے کے لیے استعمال ہوتا ہے۔ دوسرے الفاظ میں Adjective کسی Noun کے معنی ومفہوم میں اضافہ کرتا ہے۔

Anam is an Intelligent Girl.

Proper Adjectives

Adjectives formed from proper nouns are called proper adjectives. These adjectives are used to describe specific things places or names etc…

Proper Noun سے بنائے گئے Adjectives کو Proper Adjectives کہتے ہیں۔

Proper Nouns Proper Adjectives
Pakistan: Pakistani
India: Indian
Punjab: Punjabi
China: Chinese

Interrogative Adjectives

The adjectives that are used to ask questions are called interrogative adjectives. They include: What, Which, and whose.

ایسے Adjectives جو سوال پوچھنے کے لیے استعمال ہوتے ہیں۔انہیں Interrogative Adjectives کہتے ہیں۔

What things should we take with us?
Which way should I take to reach college?
Whose book is this?

Demonstrative Adjectives

These adjectives are used to point out persons or things. They answer the question: Which? The most common demonstrative adjectives are ” This ” That ” Those ” or These.

یہ ایسے Adjectives ہوتے ہیں جو کسی چیز کی طرف اشارہ کرنے کے لیے استعمال ہوتے ہیں۔ یہ Which کا جواب دیتے ہیں۔

This Boy is more Intelligent than that.
These mangoes are sweet.
Those rascals must be punished.
I hate such things.

Possessive Adjectives

Possessive adjectives show possession or ownership. These Adjectives indicate that something belongs to someone or something else. Some common possessive adjectives are my, your, his, our, etc…

یہ ایسے Adjectives ہوتے ہیں جو ملکیت کا اظہار کرنے کے لیے استعمال ہوتے ہیں۔

She Loves her car.
They do not use their brain.
I cannot give you my book.

Comparison Of Adjectives

As you know we are talking about the Adjective Definition, Types & Examples. Adjectives change in form to show comparison. These forms are called degrees of comparison. They are of three kinds: Positive Degree, Comparative Degree, and superlative degree.

Positive Degree:

It is the simple form of an adjective or adverb. A positive degree shows the quality of some nouns. It is a straightforward way to describe something.

یہ ڈگری کسی اسم کی خوبی یا خامی کو ظاہر کرتی ہے۔

Aslam is an Intelligent boy.
Sana is busy with her work.
I am tired.

What is A Pronoun And Its Types

Comparative Degree:

It is the 2nd form of the Adjective or adverb that is used to compare two things places etc. It gives a comparison between two nouns.

اس ڈگری کے ذریعے دو چیزوں کے درمیان موازانہ کیا جاتا ہے۔

Aslam is more intelligent than Amjad.
Ayesha is busier than Sana.
Sameer is faster than Ali.

Note: Some adjectives are followed by to instead of that.

She is senior to me.
I am junior to her.
This painting is inferior to that.

Superlative Degree:

It shows the highest degree of quality. Here it gives the comparison between more than two nouns or sets of things.

یہ ڈگری کسی گروپ کے ایک فرد یا چیز کا موازانہ اس گروپ کے تمام افراد یا اشیاء سے کرتی ہے۔

Ali is the most intelligent boy in the class.
Shahid is the busiest man in the city.
Allama Iqbal is the greatest poet in the sub-continent.
