Present Continuous Tense In Urdu

Present Continuous is also known as present progressive Tense. We use the present continuous tense for an action happening before our eyes. While talking, if an action is going on, we use the present continuous tense for that too. For Instance, We are studying grammar presently or she is listening to the news at present. The present continuous tense is also used to describe a definite event in the future. Types Of Tenses

There are three main types of tenses but currently, we look at the present continuous tense after learning this we jump to the next tense present perfect tense.

Present Tense

Present Indefinite Tense ( فعل حال مطلق )

Present Continuous Tense ( ٖفعل حال جاری )

Present Perfect Tense ( فعل حال مکمل )

Present Perfect Continuous Tense ( فعل حال مکل جاری )

Past Tense

Past Indefinite Tense ( فعل ماضی مطلق )

Past Continuous Tense ( ٖفعل ماضی جاری )

Past Perfect Tense ( فعل ماضی مکمل )

Present Continuous Tense In Urdu With Examples

The present continuous tense tells us about something that’s happening right now, at the very moment we speak.

یہ ٹینس ہمیں ایسی چیز کے بارے میں بتاتا ہے جو ابھی اسی وقت ہو رہی ہوتی ہے ۔

اُردو میں پہچان: جملہ بناتے وقت جس جملہ میں آخر میں رہا ہے، رہی ہے ، رہے ہوں، رہی ہوں استعما ل ہوتا ہے وہ Present Continuous tense کہلاتا ہے

اس Tense میں ہم جملہ بناتے وقت verb کی پہلی فارم کے ساتھ ing لگاتے ہیں

اس Tense میں تین helping verbs یعنی is, am, are کا استعمال کرتے ہیں۔

اگر جملہ میں کسی شخص کا نام یا کوئی Singular Noun He, She, It آئے تو ہم ” is “کا استعمال کرتے ہیں۔

اگر جملہ میں کوئی Plural Noun You, We, Theyآئے تو ہم ” are“کا استعمال کرتے ہیں۔

جملہ میں ہم” I ” کے ساتھ am استعمال کرتے ہیں۔

Positvie Sentences

When we make positive sentences in Continuous tense we use three helping verbs, is, am, and are with gerund ing.

Subject + Is/am/are + verb ( 1st Form + ing ) + Object

Examples

I am writing code.	میں کوڈ لکھ رہا ہوں
She is cooking dinner.	وہ کھانا بنا رہی ہے
We are playing a game.	ہم کھیل رہے ہیں
They are watching a movie.	وہ فلم دیکھ رہے ہیں
You are reading this sentence.	آپ یہ جملہ پڑھ رہے ہیں
It is raining outside.	باہر بارش ہو رہی ہے
The dog is barking.	کتا بھونک رہا ہے
The children are laughing.	بچے ہنس رہے ہیں
The teacher is explaining the lesson.	استاد سبق سمجھا رہا ہے
The car is driving down the street.	گاڑی سڑک پر چل رہی ہے

Present Indefinite Tense

Negative Sentences

When we made negative sentences we had one change we used ” Not ” with the helping verbs.

Subject + Is/am/are + Not + verb ( 1st Form + ing ) + Object

Examples

I am not playing.	میں کھیل نہیں رہا ہوں۔
She is not paying attention in class.	وہ کلاس میں توجہ نہیں دے رہی ہے
It is not snowing outside.	باہر برف نہیں پڑ رہی ہے
The traffic is not moving at all.	ٹریفک بالکل نہیں چل رہی ہے
I am not finishing my work on time today.	میں آج اپنا کام وقت پر ختم نہیں کر رہا ہوں
They are not preparing for the presentation.	وہ پریزنٹیشن کی تیاری نہیں کر رہے ہیں
They are not arguing with each other.	وہ آپس میں جھگڑا نہیں کر رہے ہیں۔
We are not having a meeting this afternoon.	ہم آج دوپہر کو میٹنگ نہیں کر رہے ہیں
The computer is not working properly.	کمپیوٹر ٹھیک سے کام نہیں کر رہا ہے
The flowers are not blooming yet.	پھول ابھی کھل نہیں رہے ہیں

Present Indefinite Tense

Interrogative Sentences

In interrogative sentences, we write a helping verb at the start of the sentence.

Is/am/are + Subject + verb ( 1st Form + ing ) + Object

Examples

Are you eating lunch right now?	کیا آپ اس وقت لنچ کر رہے ہیں؟
Is she practicing the piano?	کیا وہ پیانو کی مشق کر رہی ہے؟
Are we taking a break soon?	کیا ہم جلد ہی وقفہ لے رہے ہیں؟
Are they watching the news?	کیا وہ خبریں دیکھ رہے ہیں؟
What are you working on?	آپ کس پر کام کر رہے ہیں؟
Why isn’t it raining outside?	باہر بارش کیوں نہیں ہو رہی ہے؟
Who is calling at this hour?	اس وقت کون فون کر رہا ہے؟
What are they arguing about?	وہ کس بات پر جھگڑ رہے ہیں؟
Can you help me with this task?	کیا آپ مجھے اس کام میں مدد کر سکتے ہیں؟
Is the delivery person arriving soon?	کیا ڈیلیوری والا جلد ہی آ رہا ہے؟
